1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using APA Citation Generator (the "Service"), including our Chrome extension and website at apacitationgenerator.site, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

APA Citation Generator provides AI-powered citation generation for academic and research purposes. The Service includes:

  • A Chrome browser extension for generating citations from selected text
  • Support for multiple citation styles (APA, MLA, Harvard, Chicago)
  • Export functionality (BibTeX, RIS)
  • A web-based API for programmatic access (Pro users)

3. User Accounts

3.1 Free Tier

Free users may use the Service without creating an account, subject to a daily limit of 10 AI-powered citations per day. Usage is tracked anonymously based on your browser fingerprint.

3.2 Pro Accounts

Pro accounts require authentication via Google Sign-In. By creating a Pro account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate account information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access
  • Accept responsibility for all activity under your account

4. Subscriptions and Payments

4.1 Billing

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly at $10 USD per month. Payment is processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

4.2 Cancellation

You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time. Upon cancellation:

  • You will retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period
  • No partial refunds will be issued for unused time
  • Your account will revert to the free tier after the billing period ends

4.3 Refunds

We offer refunds on a case-by-case basis within 14 days of purchase if you experience technical issues that prevent you from using the Service. Contact support@apacitationgenerator.site for refund requests.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls
  • Share your Pro API key with unauthorized users
  • Submit content that violates third-party intellectual property rights
  • Use automated systems to access the Service in an abusive manner
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of our AI models
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Our Rights

The Service, including its design, code, and AI models, is owned by APA Citation Generator and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.

6.2 Your Rights

You retain all rights to the text you submit for citation generation. The citations generated by the Service are provided for your use and may be freely incorporated into your academic work.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT:

  • Generated citations will be 100% accurate or comply with the latest style guidelines
  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • The AI will correctly identify all bibliographic information from your text

You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of generated citations before using them in your academic work. Citation styles may have variations, and AI parsing may occasionally produce errors.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, APA CITATION GENERATOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, data, or academic standing
  • Damages resulting from citation errors or inaccuracies
  • Any amount exceeding the fees paid by you in the 12 months prior to the claim

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless APA Citation Generator from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Abuse of the Service or API
  • Fraudulent payment activity
  • Any other reason at our sole discretion

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

11. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which APA Citation Generator operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
